| Book meme |

I just can't resist a good book meme. :) Yoinked from peachespig, of course.
These are the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing's users (as of whenever whoever started this meme looked). As usual, bold what you have read, italicise what you started but didn't finish, and strike through what you couldn't stand. The numbers after each one are the number of LT users who used the tag of that book (that is, last time that the algorithm was done).

Everyone else is doing it, so why not join in?... Instructions: 1. Grab the nearest book. 2. Open the book to page 123. 3. Find the fifth sentence. 4. Post the text of the next 4 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions. 5. Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest. 6. Tag five people.
"The largest moon of Jupiter (radius 2630 km), Ganymede ranks overall as the largest moon in the Solar System. (Titan of Saturn is second.) Its surface looks vaguely like our Moon's, with dark, maria-like regions. It also has huge fault lines along its surface, as Europa does. Ganymede has two basic types of terrain: cratered and grooved." - Introductory Astronomy & Astrophysics, by Zeilik, Gregory, & Smith.
Now, wasn't that fun and educational? ;) I won't tag anyone, since it's already out there anyway, but feel free to pick it up if you like.

| I'm back! |
[05 Aug 2006|09:47am] |
Obviously, I've been neglecting my LJ for a long time. But after meeting everyone at Lumos, I resolved to open it back up, post once in a while, and say hi to everyone! I'd meant to do this all week, but things like work and sleep kept getting in the way. Then, last night, I had a dream that rhrsoulmates and I were in a Project-Runway-like reality show together, and I knew it was a Sign. (I'm not sure what the next dream, that I was a spy on a space station, was trying to tell me, but I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.)
Lumos was, as everyone has reported, fantastic. I started out just tagging along with peachespig, but everyone made me feel so welcome, and the energy was so infectious, that I was completely drawn in and morphed into a total HP fangirl. We spent much of the drive home discussing various Book 7 predictions and theories. The rest of the drive home was, unfortunately, spent in gripping the steering wheel white-knuckled while driving through pouring rain in the pitch-dark on winding mountain roads, though on the bright side, there wasn't much traffic and the deer apparently stayed home. We did have a glorious (if exhausting) hike in Bryce Canyon, though. And now we're home, and we've unpacked and done lots of laundry and managed to get through a week, and it's the weekend... and I'm scheming about knitting a pair of Gryffindor socks. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
